That's my favorite part of the song. He seems so into it, then. It's also crazy that he mentions inhaling asbestos in the song, seeing as how that's what killed him.

I love this. It had never occured to me that both Warren and Meat had an enormous drop-off in the 80s from which they would recover in the 90s. And both had their share of drug and alcohol problems, no less.

I know what you mean. It's big for a Zevon song.
Do you ever go to the forums at WarrenZevon.com? They're excellent. And Jordan (Warren's son) posts and answers questions, as well as gives constant updates on new projects.
I bought Crystal's book (well, loosely--it's mostly a collection of quotes from other people about Warren) a couple days ago and its been an engrossing read. You should definitely check it out: Warren was a madman.
