But did Jim have the same attitude towards the "Dead Ringer" songs that he had towards the "Bat 2" songs? Was "Dead Ringer" a Meat Loaf/Jim Steinman collaboration? Obviously Jim was involved. Jim wrote all the songs. He contributed the "Nocturnal Pleasures" monologue. He did some arrangements and produced some backing tracks. But I have read somewhere (I can't remember where) that Jim lost interest in the project and this is why Meat Loaf and Stephan Galfas were the main producers of the album. You are probably right that the "Dead Ringer" songs could have been bigger than they were (it took Barry Manilow to get "Read 'Em And Weep" into the US top twenty singles) but the album did go to number one in the UK. I would be interested to know your "Dead Ringer" opinions. | |
