Because the notes were too > high for Jim to reach. I've just been to Rhapsody and listened to their recorded and playing versions of "Lost Boys And Golden Girls". I've never been to Rhapsody for this, and the only other time I heard that song was on the CD I purchased from Tower Records in October of 2004. There was no lyric sheet, no credit for vocals for songs. But I listened intently and studied the voice and intonations, and was sure that the singer on all tracks was Jim. I had no reason for doubting it. I would have continued listening to the CD but it was stolen from me along with my CD player on October 27, that same year. I did not buy another copy or replace the CD player. I took with me my knowledge of Jim's voice to keep in the understanding that he had sung the songs. I remembered the songs because I played them day and night, with a few other CD's mixed in for some balance. One could think that maybe I just didn't remember clearly. Maybe I really didn't remember clearly. But the Rhapsody version sounds much different to me, and is not sung by Jim. I don't think it is sung by Rory Dodd either, but I don't know. The voice does not reach what I recall the voice reaching in the other version. So, who can reasonably without hatred, explain to me what it is that I have experienced in hearing these two versions being represented as only one? | |
