Meat said he was given 15 demos > > I'm trying to formulate a question that goes something like this: Why the spanking spirits are there so many demos????? My understanding of demos comes into a few areas. To be a representation by a non-performing songwriter selling a song to an artist; to be a preliminary sample of a proposed album by an artist to an A&R rep at a label; to procure financing for producers of a stage production; and to place a song on a shelf for future production possibilities. The readings I have been doing are developing to a preponderence of demos that I can't find logical reasons for. If a prior performance of a song is recorded, THAT recording is a DEMO. A demo is a basic thing. If an artist sees a title in a catalogue and has not heard it, and he wants to hear it he might say, is there a DEMO? The DEMO could be a prior performance, or it could be a purposed recording of a demo. So, why are there demos on top of demos? Aren't these just unreleased recordings, IMHO, instead? Just want to get the ideas straight about what is being referred to. | |
