| AWESOME post, LOTS of valid ideas. The only other music fan forum I read is for James Horner (composer of 'I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You'), and it's just like you say. They often average maybe a half dozen posts per week. That's the total for all people registered on the forum. When there's not much to say, the activity dies down, and there isn't complaining about it. Consequently, the good content stays at the top of the page and is easier to find. When I see somebody on a forum make a very high number of posts about what they don't like seeing on that forum, I find myself asking, Are you glued to the keyboard? Is your computer broken so it can only access this webpage? Have you tried other forums? I especially agree with this part. I don't see merit in the idea of a truly great poet+composer providing updates about his work just to pacify an internet fan forum. The decisions as to when to make things public should be those that best serve the art and the projects that deliver it. If Rink and/or Jim spent time trying to please the inner circle of obsessive fans, those fans will just beg for even more a few weeks later, and Rink and Jim are already very busy. I honestly think it's best that we not get any updates at all about projects in development, unless that update somehow serves the progress of the project. Best, Bright | |
