Well, one other question you've gotta ask yourself, is whether this forum is just one board discussing the works of Jim Steinman or a forum/discussion area for Jim Steinman fans to interact, and adjust your expectations accordingly.
Personally, I lean towards the latter category. And since communities are what its members make it, I don't have a problem with NJC. On the other hand, had I seen this board as 'just' a board to discus Jim's work, I'd probably wouldn't been interested in the off-topic stuff, and just skimmed it for the (scarce) info it might provide.
