| Hey thanks so much--speculation from a fellow fan is always welcome. I have to say the Pandora's Box remaster is one of the most "compressed" (I guess that's the term) remaster I know of. Usually, when others complain about ramsters that do that, I don't notice, but if I play Pandora's Box's loudly or on headphones I almost feel like it gives me a headache--luckily I have the old edition, which sounds fine, anyway (and it's nice to have the remaster for the DVD). Bat II's doesn't bother me--I remember when I got it maybe three or four years ago, someone on here told me there were two remasters, and to avoid the earlier one from 2002 (called the Deluxe Edition) and get the 2006 UK Collector's Edition (which has a live disc and a DVD of the videos). I guess the earlier edition was so clumsily remastered/mixed people on here said certain key instruments were pushed to the back, etc--as well as compression issues. Anyway the 2006 disc sounds really good to my ears. And you're right that Japanese remasters tend to be done with much more care--I'm a big disco fan and have some limited edition ones they've done that sound spectacular. I guess I'll have to decide if the Bonnie ones are worth the money for me or not. I know Dead Ringer and Bad for Good were never iconic like the Bats, but it does seem due time to remaster them... I'll assume the budget reissues aren't at all then.
