What Steinman Lyric or Lyrics reflect something personal to you?

In celebration of Jim's wonderful Song Writing Hall of Fame induction I was thinking we should have a thread dedicated to what lyric/lyrics from Jim's music have personal meaning for us.

Jim's music has such an emotional connection with his fans. The humor, the sadness, the love, the lust, the wonder, and the joy that is conveyed through his work is truly awe inspiring. The stories that some of his songs tell are absolutely provoking.

For me, the most personal lyric he has would be in the second section of Objects in the Rear View Mirror. I had a volatile relationship with my father growing up (he has an alcohol abuse problem) and every time I would hear this verse come on it made me feel good inside to know I wasn't alone.

There were endless winters
and the dreams would freeze
No where to hide
and no leaves on the trees,

and my father's eyes were blank as he hit me again and again and again

I know I still believe
he'd never let me leave,
I had to run away alone

So many threats and fears,
so many wasted years,
before my life became my own

To end on a happy and humorous note, I refer to this lyric when my wife complains about me not buying her expensive presents when Im in a particularly cheap mode:

And maybe you can cry all night,
but thatll never change the way that I feel.

Hahaha, singing that song at her in response to a "OH COME ON, PLEASE!! WHY WONT YOU BUY IT, WAAAAAH!" is always fun.

And my relationship with my father has much improved since my youth.
