although I've only seen parts of the broadway version, I agree with you, it's better. But the point I was trying to make, is that a movie adaption doesnt necessarily have to be better. As I've said I looked on IMDB recently and it's got a rating of 7.8 there. (Dont know anything about the box office results in the US though)
All in all as a movie it was successful (over here), if this version is a good musical is another question.
But this is exactly what should be aimed for DOTV/TDV as well, to make a good movie, not a 1:1 copy of the musical.
We know the material is great, and have several good quality bootlegs around if we want to watch the original show. So why dont take a risk?
Not to go off topic, but this attitude, being afraid of taking risks, was the reason for Bat3's failure. And I dont wanna see that happen to TDV.
