Have you seen the stage version? If not rent it and watch it... it is soooo much better. As for Burton's version... with Johnny Depp at the height of his popularity the movie still didn't make a profit at the Box Office in the U.S. I love Burton and would have thought him an excellent choice. But he missed the mark with this movie... It would have been fine as a non-musical with Depp's portrayal. As it was the movie lost all its fun and charm...
