LOL). You make a good point. But some feel that a big budget show has more chance of making big money. The rights cost a small fortune. A lot of money has been spent on things like legal bills and the various readings. And even though the producers have purchased the grand rights to the Bat songs, this is still Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell and I think they really want to bring something that pleases Jim to the stage. Jim's Peter Pan story could be done in a simple, inexpensive way, but would it run as long as a Spider-Man? > What about doing an intimate musical with the music > pulling most of the weight? This bizarre idea of having > so much sizzle is what killed Dance IMHO. Too much sizzle may have been part of it but have you seen the You Tube videos showing Michael Crawford and the ridiculous character he invented. That wasn't Jim's fault. They banned him from rehearsals. Such a thing would be impossible with BOOH. Ryan has read the DOTV script that Jim wanted to go with and apparently it is much much better. It wasn't just sizzle that killed Dance, although that may have contributed to the mounting of a show that was completely different in many ways to Tanz. > Doesnt make sense to me to have this big flashy production > on an unproven commidity. Look at More than you Deserve > for what a mess that shows story is but how fantastic the > musical numbers are! The Bat songs are brilliant, so there is a good chance of some great musical numbers. Imagine the Hooks performing Paradise. Hee hee. | |
