Yes. There is a wonderful script that is dated August 2011. A few others from the board have seen it as well over the years. And for almost ten years now I have treasured that script. And yes. I think we all wanted the original production on Broadway but if there was going to be an alternate I would have chosen this script. And all it needed in my opinion was a couple more revisions and then they could have started rehearsals. For example, Act One finishes with "Seize the Night" which of course was originally the Nightmare Sequence in Act Two, which in this script is replaced with a dance sequence marked simply as "Alfred's Nightmare". The Prologue with the three numbers, "Angels arise", "God has left the building" and "Original sin", isn't silly like the final production with the silly mushroom gag. It's actually pretty serious and straight forward.

If I ever get to Heaven, one of the things I will want to see is Steve Barton acting in a live production of this script using the original sets, costumes, lighting, sound and orchestrations from the original Austrian and German productions.
