I've never interpreted those lyrics having to do ANYTHING to do with Jim Steinman at all because the correct line is "If I could bust into hell I would". In my opinion Couldn't have Said it Better, Did I say That and Blind as a Bat are the three best non Steinman songs Meat has recorded and that is mostly because the song writers tried to write Steinman songs. In this case I certainly do believe that copying is the greatest form of envy. I saw a lot of regret in Meat Loaf from some interviews he did during the 2006-2007 period and I am now sure he would have preferred it to have been called Monster is Loose. I still don't think the album sucks like he thinks himself. It has some great moments in fact, certainly better than HCTB I'd say. I certainly hope the Jim chapter is not closed because like one guy said on the Behind the music documentary about the reason they reunited for Bat 2 was "that they needed each". I think at this stage this rings even more true today. Meat HAS the voice/delivery, Jim has the songs. What's in the past should be forgetten. The silly playground "he did this so I'm not going to do that" attitude should be buried. In the name of great music that is what I'm hoping for. | |
