| With respect, your position seems to me both very extreme and very emotional. As I understand it, Jim and Meat have often been at odds. It has been one of those relationships. The language in a suit, which is by definition an adversarial statement within an adversarial process, is not of necessity to be taken literally. Meat has, in any event, clearly indicated regret that he took such an extreme position, and has apologized. If Jim chooses to accept that apology, that is Jim’s business, not a fan’s grudge to hold in his stead. As for Meat’s voice, while there seems to be general agreement that it is not, of course, what it once was, there also seem to be those who feel he is still capable of performing strongly. Should he ‘hang it up’ to please a few bitter and disgruntled fans? –-Neither likely, nor, in my judgement, appropriate. I simply fail to see the point in a perpetual embrace of resentment and bitterness. Jim and Meat have both, in the past, shown the strength and the sense to get past it. Perhaps there are others who might consider their example. | |
